Centam — Montreal Neuropsychological Assessment Centre for Learning Disorders — is one of the first private neuropsychology clinics in Quebec, founded in the early 2000s. For over two decades, the clinic has supported children, adolescents, and adults in understanding their cognitive functioning through rigorous, compassionate, and science-based evaluations.
The clinic is under the scientific direction of Dr. Dave Ellemberg, clinical neuropsychologist, active researcher, and full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal — expert advisor appointed by the Government of Quebec (2024) and recognized by the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The team is composed of neuropsychologists specializing in the assessment of neurodevelopmental and learning disorders in children, adolescents, and adults.

Neuropsychological Assessment?
A neuropsychological assessment analyzes an individual’s social, emotional, intellectual development, and academic progress. This process allows for a diagnosis to be made and helps establish a support plan for learning and success. Neuropsychologists are the only professionals authorized to assess all of the higher cognitive functions of the human brain.

La RAMQ ne couvre pas les services de neuropsychologie en clinique privée
Le CENTAM est une clinique privée — ses évaluations neuropsychologiques ne sont donc pas remboursées par la Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ). Cette réalité est la même pour la grande majorité des services psychologiques et neuropsychologiques en pratique privée au Québec, à l’instar de la dentisterie ou de la physiothérapie.
L’assurance privée peut couvrir tout ou partie des frais
Les neuropsychologues du CENTAM sont membres de l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ) — les reçus sont émis à titre de services psychologiques professionnels. De nombreux régimes d’assurance collective privée peuvent prévoir un remboursement partiel ou total des évaluations neuropsychologiques sous la catégorie « psychologie » ou « neuropsychologie ». Il est recommandé de vérifier les modalités de votre contrat auprès de votre assureur avant le début de l’évaluation.
Les frais non remboursés peuvent être déclarés
Dans de nombreux cas, les frais d’évaluation neuropsychologique non couverts par l’assurance privée sont admissibles au crédit d’impôt pour frais médicaux au Québec. Un comptable pourra confirmer l’admissibilité selon votre situation personnelle.

Are neuropsychology services covered by RAMQ?
This is one of the most common questions before booking an appointment. Here is a clear answer.
RAMQ does not cover neuropsychology services in private clinics
CENTAM is a private clinic — as such, its neuropsychological evaluations are not covered by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ). This is the case for the vast majority of psychological and neuropsychological services in private practice across Quebec, much like dentistry or physiotherapy.
Private insurance may cover all or part of the fees
CENTAM’s neuropsychologists are members of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ) — receipts are issued for professional psychological services. Many private group insurance plans may cover all or part of neuropsychological evaluations under the “psychology” or “neuropsychology” category. We recommend verifying the terms of your policy with your insurance provider before starting the evaluation.
Non-reimbursed expenses can be claimed
In many cases, neuropsychological evaluation fees not covered by private insurance are eligible for the medical expense tax credit in Quebec. An accountant can confirm eligibility based on your personal situation.
